The HP TouchSmart TM2 is a great machine, and what makes it greater is the addition of a responsive capacitive touch screen. This sets this HP touch screen laptop apart from all the rest because its screen is responsive and great to write on. There are two methods of input, finger input or pen input with the Wacom digitising pen. The pen supports pressure sensitivity, making it like a normal pen ,press hard and you get a thick line and vice versa. Finger input is fun because of the addition of multi touch allowing for gestures such as pinch to zoom and flicking through galleries. The screen is covered in a glossy but low glare screen making it ideal for watching movies and viewing pictures.

The battery can last you a whole working day or 7 hours. This is based on a whole days heavy use with Wi-Fi and all. Like most machines, this one comes with its own free software that helps add to the experience. The HP TouchSmart software is a great way to navigate through your laptops menu’s offering a graphic and user friendly alternative to the normal mouse. You will also find a good alternative to MS paint, “Corel Paint it!” is a program that supports both finger and pen drawing. It is built around a 1.3Ghz processor and it is anything but slow. You will find that this machine is fast enough for most of the standard tasks you can throw at it. Applications such as Photoshop CS4 run fairly well on it with no major noticeable lag.

In conclusion this is a great machine for all those who need a scribing tablet. This is no Apple Ipad but it does offer the significantly greater processing power of a true mobile computer. You also get a physical keyboard plus an operating system. Windows 7 has great integration for tablet based input and surely this will be a great machine worthy of the praise and awards it has received.
